Oh, Better Far To Live And Die...
Oct. 18th, 2006 11:54 am... I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry. There are far too many people I have to apologize to for writing this.
_paperpencil, I told you so.
Title: ...Under The Brave Black Flag I Fly
Word Count: 300
Topic: Music
Rating: PG for comic mischief
Pairing: Implied San/Zo, implied Uso/Lu
Warning: CRACK. Or as close as I get to writing CRACK. Not to be taken seriously for any reason.
In their defense, the pirates that attacked that afternoon had certainly seemed to be competent at their profession, especially in the beginning when they managed come up on the stern and cut cannons out of the equation. Though it meant they faced boarding, Usopp was secretly glad he’d not have to repair any more cannon holes in his darling Merry.
The attacking pirates looked fierce and strong, if a little confused at the general youth of the Mugiwara. Their leader, a dashing man with magnificent boots, balanced easily on the side railing as he looked over their number with some concern.
“I say, you’re all awfully young to be at sea all by yourselves,” he called over. “You’re not… orphans… are you?” The man’s crew winced at the word.
Luffy looked over his nakama, all of whom wore some variation of a cool, “don’t talk about this” expression.
“Well, Usopp’s dad is a pirate, but I think that’s about it.” He shrugged, pointing to the sniper. The attacking force dropped their weapons with a great cry of despair.
“We don’t attack orphans, but we can’t gang up on one boy...” The other captain pushed forward a youth not much older than Usopp. “Go get him, Frederic.”
There was a brief but amusing scene as the pirate apprentice chased Usopp around the deck with all the success of Sanji topping Zoro.
Eventually, the apprentice dropped to an exhausted heap on the deck, and his captain declared it a draw and hauled his student back to his own ship. Usopp yelled at Luffy for not helping, but the Mugiwara captain only grinned, told him he did well in his first official pirate duel, and started humming the song the other pirates sang as they sailed away.
“Oh I am a Pirate King…”
End
Sincere apologies go to Gilbert & Sullivan, and Oda, for the abuse of their characters.
