Blood Music (Lucci/Paulie)
Oct. 18th, 2006 08:32 pmTitle: Blood Music
Rating: PG-13? A little graphic (it's Lucci) and sex is mentioned.
Word Count: 3 x 100
Pairing: Lucci/Paulie with creepy Hattori.
Topic: Music
Warnings: Spoilers for Water Seven, through chapter ... 349. (The fact that I can pull that number out of thin air demonstrates my unhealthy obsession with Water Seven)
Notes: Each of these can stand on its own, but they're meant to be a set of three. Each clocks in at 100 words even.
---
When Lucci gets especially bored with this game, he lets his hand pause over Paulie's heart, fingers tense, ready to pierce, slide easily through skin until blood wells up, down through muscle where veins shudder and rip, into flesh and past bone until he can feel the pathetic pulsing of Paulie's heart, until the feeble echo of blood music in his ears swells to a symphony of savagery.
Paulie's breath hitches then; his eyes might grow wary but his fool grin also widens. Lucci's waiting to see the look in those eyes when Paulie can hear the blood music, too.
---
Hattori is never afraid of his master, not even when Lucci is all fur and fangs and the low rumble of a growl. Lucci's new toy is afraid. Perched close enough that he can hear a breath stop mid-gasp over the noise of them together, Hattori watches, wonders if this time Lucci will kill. Wonders why the other doesn't run; stupid, so afraid and still returning to distract his master.
He mouths the syllables, though, helps his master stalk this stupid prey, and waits for the regular rhythm of this game to be broken by sharp fingers and pulsing blood.
---
There's a tune to this, a beat: Paulie's pulse stutters as fingers pause (affection? like hell, but he swallows anyway) over his heart, as sweat (his own, Lucci's) rolls down his back; a rhythm: breaths, pants, off-kilter to the pounding of blood in his ears. A familiar pattern: Lucci smirks and Paulie snarls; bites in the dark; a laugh edged with threat, promise, heat. It's a tune he knows, and damn if he hadn't gotten used to it.
It's when he feels his heart stutter again, pulse blood around Lucci's fingers, that he realizes: he has always been tone deaf.

Wow, uh, feedback is so welcome. I haven't drabbled since last November >.>

Some day I'll write Paulie with a happy ending, I swear.
And, os course, thanks so much for commenting!

Date: 2006-10-19 05:24 am (UTC)The dynamic you set up was interesting as well; Paulie knowing he's lying to himself but staying anyway. I loved this thought: "Paulie's pulse stutters as fingers pause (affection? like hell, but he swallows anyway)" PAULIE! ;_; Impressive how much you got across for all of them using just 100 words each.
Also, I'll admit that this drabble sent me scurrying over to your journal and I think I might love you for working on a Water Seven epic from Paulie's POV. Like... really. ♥

Date: 2006-10-19 08:28 am (UTC)And yeah, I've had too little time to write lately, but I'm hoping to get back at it because (as maybe you saw, if you found out about the Paulie story from my fic to do list) I have SO MUCH FIC TO FINISH ;_;
Also, I adore Paulie. A lot. And I love/hate Lucci. And goddamn, but that pairing is just so much messed up and angst and bloody and hot. Definitely one of my favourites. Monotrouble definitely didn't steer you wrong here.
And thank you, so much, for commenting! I do like to set up weird dynamics with these two, so I'm glad when it works out. And of course I'm always delighted just to hear back from people ^^;

Date: 2006-10-19 03:17 pm (UTC)Speaking of which, thank you so much! I adore Lucci/Paulie like nobody's business, but writing Lucci POV is always... interesting >.>
I worried about Hattori here a lot, too, so I'm really glad to hear I did okay there!
I do hope you enjoy the other stories when I finish them, and hey, dude, awesome that we share fandoms! Thanks again =D

BLEACH. I just caught up this week with the latest chapters (from BEFORE SOUL SOCIETY ARC) so I am just kind of FLOORED right now. I need someone to fangirl with so I'm trying to sic the series on all my friends XD

Date: 2006-10-19 04:09 pm (UTC)But hey, apparently we both share impeccable taste, for a quick jaunt over to your journal revealed a love for Naruto and an oft-used Shikamaru icon. As well as a Roy and Riza icon! With a line from Firefly, no less! And! Even a Boondock Saints icon!
Although I might be mistaken on whether that's actually from the movie or not but I DON'T CARE because I will NEVER object to staring at Norman Reedus. By the way if you like weird relationships and/or Norman Reedus and/or Alan Rickamn and/or the idea of Norman Reedus and Alan Rickman making out, you should totally get your hands on a copy of Dark Harbor. >.>
Anyway! So, uh, yeah, we seem to share fandoms! I find this exciting. I'm not very good at lj-based interaction, so don't be surprised if you find me poking you on AIM sometime, since that's where I talk to people, mostly. Assuming your contact info is correct, I might come and fangirl on Bleach/Naruto/FMA/Avatar/One Piece at you >.>
Good god but is Grimmjow hot. And he has a most awesome name. Grimmjow Jaggerjack. Also much heart for Rukia ripping Ichigo a new one for not trusting her to make her way to him to help.

Sorry, he's
at leastonly half the reason I'm into Naruto.Also. Uh. Cavilo. Don't tell me....
...
Are you into Lois McMaster Bujold? My current favourite sci-fi writer evar?
...
*checks profile*
Why, yes you are! As well as Terry Pratchett and Death Note.
... wow.
This is becoming creepy, because you also seem to share my tendency to be in turns extremely outgoing and extremely like a hermit.
Obviously I'm in an outgoing phase right now, but really, I am seekritly a hermit >.>
... You are most definitely being poked sometime, and most likely gift-arted for being awesome.

and yeah, that really did take several hours to register >.>

Date: 2006-10-19 11:15 pm (UTC)Well hey, OP fandom has been pretty exciting lately! Possibly I'm guilty of ignoring my other fandoms a little because OMG ICEBURG'S BACK and all that. ... And, you know, other events/revelations that are far more important to the storyline but don't cater to my fangirly ways. Recent chapter love ♥ ♥ ♥
But yeah, if I were on rec lists I'd love to know =D
Also, Dark Harbor, since you expressed interest, can be bought on DVD (http://www.amazon.com/Dark-Harbor-Alan-Rickman/dp/0784014213/sr=1-1/qid=1161299141/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/104-8310038-9397501?ie=UTF8&s=dvd) for way cheap (http://product.half.ebay.com/Dark-Harbor_W0QQprZ3323221QQtgZinfo) or possibly obtained from me if I can figure out how to rip it off the copy I have. However, the commentary is really worth it. Try not to read reviews of the movie though, since almost all of them give the plot away entirely, and seeing as this is a mystery/thriller film (not that you'd notice while watching it) the plot twists are, you know. Pretty integral to the viewing experience. I do recommend it, though, for the superb acting, the plot, and for the fact that Norman Reedus and Alan Rickman are both in it.
BY THE WAY, the weirdness continues! I live in the D.C. metro area! Which is, yeah, something else that took a couple hours to register, cause I'm smrt. That's right, smrt.

Date: 2006-10-19 11:48 pm (UTC)Water Seven is possibly my FAVOURITE THING EVER. With the possible, possible exception of the Kalgara/Norland backstory. That's another part I reread and then bawl about. But man, carpenter mafia wins. I spend way too much time gibbering about the pure awesome that is this arc >.>
Good luck with Dark Harbor! Let me know how it goes; I'm curious to hear others' thoughts on it, cuase it's such an intruiging movie.
Re: my LJ! Not the end of the world if you don't remember, I was just curious. If you figure it out, though, yay. But hey, since we seem to share so many fandoms, maybe you'd be interested in taking a look at my recs journal? I'm working on the next set of recs right now XD

Date: 2006-10-20 12:09 am (UTC)I'm from Moscow, raised there, in Tajikistan, Ukraine, Denmark, Los Angeles, and North Carolina, went to high school right here in Fairfax County, was going to school in Oregon, and am currently taking a year off from school to live and work here in the D.C. area again.
So, I guess I'm pretty far from a D.C. native, but I've lived here for six years. =P
Wow, man, I just shepherded a friend through One Piece and god but was that torture for all the squeeing I could not do. Oh, terrible!
And, um, yes, that's my rec journal. And you like the fics, then? I'm glad! I'm pretty nervous about my tastes and I wonder if I'm too picky or not picky enough a lot. I feel awful for being behind schedule, too, but I've been sick, which (a) knocked me out and (b) put me behind at work, which put me behind everywhere else. Fail. I'm hoping to finish this new post tonight. It would only be... four days late ;_;
