A/N: According to Oda, Zoro and Usopp both like autumn islands best. And wow...it's been a while since I've posted anything here. ::hangs head in shame::
Autumn islands meant just enough bite to be refreshing and just enough warmth to draw one outdoors willingly. The scent of bonfire smoke and giant mums caught the tail end of a blustering wind; it whipped through pinecones until they almost whistled.
On autumn islands, the trees donned their finest fiery regalia, resplendently and unrepentantly colorful in the face of pseudo-death. The leaves snapped from reluctant branches to whirl twirl swirl a-flutter to the ground.
Autumn islands meant snuggly sweaters were tossed carelessly aside while two brown bodies flip flopped like landed fish in oceans of oak leaves. The rustle snap crunch made a counter-rhythm to half-hearted claims and dry chuckles.
The autumn islands were strange places, borderlands between bounty and demise. The mantles and masks that lay so heavily on their souls dropped to the ground like the over-ripened berries crushed beneath their feet.
Autumn islands meant firm, unhurried kisses, open exploration, freedom to be loud but choosing muted cries. The swordsman and sniper loved each other there with just enough bite to be refreshing and just enough warmth to keep them together.

Date: 2006-10-20 02:30 am (UTC)Your descriptions are always incredible. I especially liked the line The mantles and masks that lay so heavily on their souls dropped to the ground like the over-ripened berries crushed beneath their feet. For some reason the idea of masks falling away really gets me. <3

Date: 2006-10-26 03:21 am (UTC)I would like to think that when the two of them are alone, they don't have to, I don't know, try so hard. Both of them have such heavy expectaions about behavior put on them by the rest of the crew that perhaps when it's just the two of them they can find a happy, quiet balance.
Or I could just be an overthoughtful raving fangirl looney.
