Title: Wandering thoughts…

Notes: Just a little something I came up with this afternoon.



In the red lights of the room the blonde looked like completely different.

He moved gracefully though the crowd toward the bar and collected a few drinks before returning with them propped up on his right hand.

In an intricate balancing act the cook moved to and fro, weaving effortlessly through the throng of writhing bodies before coming to halt at the table his nakama were seated at.

Luffy continued to stare as his chef passed the drinks around and then turned swiftly to join the mass of bodies and return the tray he had used to deliver the drinks. Upon reaching the bar words were exchanged between the barman and his nakama. Sanji smirked audibly as he accepted a handful of Berri, scooped up another tray-load of drinks and delivered them to a table adjacent to theirs.

Luffy frowned deep in thought as the rest of his crew continued on deep in conversation.He tapped his hat and then removed it, never once taking his eyes off of the blond who was now returning to their table.

Firmly placing it on Sanji’s head the captain closely observed the cook. His hair blood red from the glow of the rouge bulbs, eyes dark and the shadows hiding half his form.

“You okay?” Sanji question, quietly. Slight concern touched the edges of his words.

Luffy just smiled and took a sip of his drink only to realize it was empty. The cook laughed at the captains pout and picked up the glass, heading off for another refill – hat still perched comfortably on his head.

Luffy smiled sadly this time. The blonde looked so much like his inspiration that Luffy could actually believe it was the red-haired pirate smiling at him from the bar. He sighed happily. Sometimes, it was good to pretend.
