Garp gets to meet Ace's boyfriend...

Smoker didn’t know how this situation was possible. He tried wrapping his brain around it, but that only made his head hurt more.
"Grandpa, this is that guy I was telling you about!"
"Captain Smoker! What are the odds?"
"My words exactly..."
When they met up with Garp’s ship Smoker thought nothing of it. He hadn’t expected Ace to walk out onto the main deck and give the man a hug. In front of the whole crew. BOTH their crews.
The vice-admiral punched Ace in the head and Smoker was sure Firefist's life was about to end.
But then Garp grinned and hugged him back.
So the brat was related to Vice-Admiral Garp, and had been raised by the man on top of everything else. He wouldn’t voice it aloud, but Smoker wondered where Garp had gone wrong...
The worst part of the situation was that Ace had come from Smoker’s ship, not the other way around. But Smoker didn’t think he needed to explain anything, since Firefist had taken the liberty to do so for him...
"Captain, Ace has told me so much about you!"
"Has he...?"
"I have to say he has much better taste than Luffy." At that Smoker had become light headed... He was also faintly disturbed by how familiar his grin was... "And a decorated, honorable Marine Captain! I’m proud of you, Ace! There is hope for you yet!"
Ace grinned cheekily, "Thanks grandpa!"
Oh, what Smoker would give to wipe the grin off his freckled face...
For now he would pretend that it didn’t bother him, that he considered this... normal...
He would also pretend that both their crews weren’t staring at them with their mouths hanging open...
But he couldn't pretend that Ace didn't exist anymore...

Whoooo! That's been floated around in my head forever! My first none Zosan drabble! I have another one I should post sometime, a follow-up to this. ^__^ I love being mean to Smoker.

where Garp has gone wrong: I think the 'has' should probably be a 'had' for the tenses to match up?
