Happy birthday, Zoro. Also, this is the one year anniversary of the first OP fic I ever posted. I'd hoped to get up to 200 fics in my first year, but I failed and only wrote 178.

Title: Dream (LAME!)
Word Count: 225.
Rating: G.
Pairing: Nakamaship? None?
Topic: Peace.

Zoro dreamed.

He dreamt of a past, of a boy, of a girl, of a sword, of a fight and a fight and two thousand and one fights, of reaching out and catching a shimmering white butterfly, so swift and agile in the air, constantly eluding his clumsy groundbound attempts to capture its grace for himself until the day his hand closed triumphantly over it only to open on shattered wings and glittering powder and his first taste of death.

He dreamt of a future, spring-green turned winter-gray, crippled by the last fight of his life, left arm gone in a deathblow turned a mercy when Kitetsu’s taint went with it. Santouryu had died that day, but from its grave grew flowers who turned their bright faces to him and called him “sensei” and expected him to pour sense into their empty little heads as he’d had poured into his by his sensei.

He dreamt of a present, warm sun on warm wood, wind tasting like adventure and anticipation filling a sail painted with an emblem that he’d follow to ends of the earth and back. Six lights surrounded him, and he breathed their love, listened to their songs, tasted their hopes and fears, and watched their dreams unfold under the gentle shade of a battered straw hat.

Zoro smiled in his sleep, and dreamed.

Heh, for some reason I'm reminded of the story of the sparrow flying out of the darkness in to a room, then back in to darkness again. Love this, that whatever the past or future may hold, his present is a thing to be cherished ♥.

Wow. That is made of wow. Your writing skills are omfg.

Santouryu had died that day, but from its grave grew flowers who turned their bright faces to him and called him “sensei” and expected him to pour sense into their empty little heads as he’d had poured into his by his sensei.

Hmmmm, happy fulfilling goosebumps. ^____^

Your language (as always, damn you!) is beautiful. The concept of flowers growing from the grave of Santouryu is the kind of thing I wish my mind would produce. @_@ The present paragraph is also beautiful.

"Six lights surrounded him, and he breathed their love, listened to their songs, tasted their hopes and fears, and watched their dreams unfold under the gentle shade of a battered straw hat." Possibly one of my favorite One Piece sentences ever. I got goosebumps again just copy-pasting it. The nakamaship, the adventure, and the love. What an awesome b-day gift for Zoro. ♥

178!?!?! 178!?!?!?! I BOW BEFORE YOU.

That second long paragraph - about his future - really hit me hard. The flower usage is perfect and lovely. This was a wonderful tribute!
