The Bright Side
May. 29th, 2004 06:43 pmTitle: The Bright Side
Rating: PG
Pairing: A little bit S/Z, S/N, U/L?
Wordcount: 300
Notes: I'm back from vacation, but my brain apparently has decided on an extended sabbatical. Oh, how this topic tried to fight me. Hopefully this is just a warm up.
It wasn't shocking anymore to go to sleep in the heat of summer and wake in the night with toes numb from cold--but it was still annoying.
Sanji rolled off the hammock, cursing at his bare feet on the planking as he headed for the chest where they kept the blankets.
Halfway there he stumbled over Usopp and Luffy curled together in a giant nest on the rug.
"Oi, did you have to use them all?" Sanji tugged experimentally; no give. Abandoning nicety he put his foot on Luffy's shoulder and yanked. "At least invite me in, you bastard," he grunted.
A moment later the implications hit him. The hard-earned corner of fabric slipped through lax fingers. Sanji whirled for the emergency entrance. "Nami-san! I'm bringing the warmth of my love to share with you!"
He tripped again, on his face this time. Zoro was on the couch, one leg blatantly outstretched. In the faint light of the portholes, his teeth gleamed, and so did the icicles hanging from his nose.
"You fuckin'-" Sanji stopped short.
Zoro had a blanket.
Small and thin, but it was in Sanji's grasp in an instant, Zoro's indignant shout nothing to deter him. The head-butt he simply avoided. Predictably, furious struggle ensued, until the unmistakable sound of tearing cloth snarled through the cabin. They froze, eying the blanket stretched between them.
Somehow, with plenty of shoving and wicked elbows, they ended up under the covers without really agreeing to anything. Zoro's skin was warm, or at least warmer than Sanji's, but the earrings were fangs of cold against his neck. Sanji gritted his teeth, curling closer, and gradually the metal warmed.
By the time he remembered Nami, it was already morning, and she came to breakfast in a parka. Cold weather was shit.

Date: 2004-05-30 01:19 am (UTC)Yeah, Nami. I heart her. But poor Sanji. On top of having to huddle with Zoro all night (oh, the
deprivationdepravation, hopefully) it's not bikini weather anymore.no subject
