Title: Mistaken Identity
Rating: Err... G, I guess?

Warnings: slight spoilers, but really only if you don't know who is Franky is.
Pairing: FrankyxIceburg. Only not...

Franky was used to people thinking he was gay.

He wasn’t entirely sure why. Just because a guy was in touch with his all-singing, all-dancing, loud-shirt-wearing side didn’t make him gay, did it? …Well, all right, Franky would admit it; maybe he was a bit camp. But not gay.

And he certainly was not in love with Iceburg, which for some reason people had believed him to be for much of his life…

 

He had first learned of it as a teenager, from Kokoro and Tom. Walking past an open door and hearing his name mentioned, naturally he had stopped to eavesdrop. He had slunk away wishing he hadn’t, as they had been discussing whether Tom’s youngest apprentice would grow up to “sail on the other side of the Grand Line”. He especially wished he hadn’t heard Kokoro conclude that: “whichever way you look at it, he’s already got it bad for Iceburg!” Tom had just laughed. The git.

 

Sadly, it had not just been Kokoro. Oddly enough, women found his “crush” on Iceburg cute, and had been annoyingly reluctant to believe him when he explained that they were mistaken. It had got markedly easier to pick up women after everyone had believed Cutty Flam to be dead.

 

Unfortunately, since the Enies Lobby incident it had started to happen again. Walking past an open door on the Thousand Sunny, Franky had heard Nami ask: “Are you sure about Franky?”

To which Robin had replied: “Oh, I think so. He talks to me a lot, and there’s a look he gets when he talks about him…”

“Do you think Iceburg knows how he feels?”

“I couldn’t say...”

“Poor Franky!”

Outside in the corridor, Franky began to cry silently. And all this time, he’d thought he’d been trying to chat Robin up…

Yeah well, this makes F-all sense XD I hope at least someone doesn't hate it.... It makes sense in my mind, I swear!

=D I'm glad you like it! It took me ages to put it together, but I was determined to write *something* for Franky. I love him, but he's a bit neglected by the fandom, I feel.

"girls dig guys who dig guys" - isn't that the One Piece fandom all over? XD If Franky had any sense he'd pretend it was true; he'd get so many girls! (I'm not sure how Iceburg would feel about that strategy, mind you... XD)

Lol! Poor Franky! That third line made me cackle out loud over my breakfast and the last line gave me such a clear image of Franky standing there weeping in frustration. Glad you posted this, it does seem sometimes that Franky doesn't get much else written about him unless Iceburg's involved...

Heh heh heh, glad you liked it. I was being rather cruel to poor Franky really, as I know how he feels. My last several years of high school, I was plagued by the assumption that I was in love with my best friend, and no one would be told different. 0_o
Actually thinking about it, it was probably just as bad for her and Iceburg as it was for me and Franky XD
