Topic: Den Den Mushi
Rating: PG-13, for language
Word Count: 298 (Omake: 189)
Pairing: Zoro/Sanji (It could maybe even be Sanji/Chopper if you really, really, want it to be)
AN: Italicized text = Den Den Mushi.
He’d missed the group of Den Den Mushi sitting off in the corner entirely. It was an off-hand comment from Chopper as they turned the corner that brought Sanji back, skidding to a halt in front of them, dragging his companion behind him by an antler.
“SANJI!! That hurts!! Let go of me!”
Sanji released him with an apologetic pat and contrite smile, and focused on the Den Den Mushi while Chopper blushed and yelled at him that ‘that was a lousy apology and he wasn’t forgiven, you stupid asshole’ in the background. There were four, with tiny placards in front of them—Command, Cell Block A, Cell Block B, and Speaker. The scent of desert air and brilliance filled his nostrils as he reached for the one marked Cell Block A.
“This is Cell Block A.”
“I have a transfer request for the Strawhats.”
“What?! We just had orders not to let them out of our sight!”
“Are you questioning your superior officer, boy!?”
“I’m a girl.”
“Huh?”
“I’m a girl. And we have orders from Commodore Harkness not to move the Strawhat Pirates under any circumstances.”
Sanji cast about blindly for a second, and seized upon anything he could to turn the situation around before it soured. “Harkness!? That blithering idiot! This is Commander Prince, and I want the Strawhats up here now! Disregard those orders!”
“...she outranks you.”
“Now, listen here, young lady—“
“Commodore Harkness outranks you. I outrank you too.”
“Oh. Shit.”
“Indeed. You don’t seem to understand anything about Marine rank or protocol. Impersonating a marine is a crime, you know. You wouldn’t happen to be the Strawhat’s missing cook, would you? We heard about something similar in Alabasta… ”
“AIII!!!! SANJI! They’re on to us!”
“Chopper! Let’s go!! We’re coming, Nami-swa~an!”
Omake:
Meanwhile, in Cell Block B
Nami looked up from her hand of cards, and sighed as all the guards took off running as save for one, who hung up the Den Den Mushi with an incredulous shake of his head. “He’s late.”
Franky looked down at his hand of cards, then back at Nami, and the various cards she’d tucked away, then at Robin, who was sitting there with a unassuming smile on her face and a twinkle in her eyes—including the one over Nami’s shoulder—and tossed them down. “I fold.”
“Usopp?” Nami prompted as she started nudging Zoro and Luffy awake.
One exceptionally well aimed rock later, the guard was out, and Nami produced a key she’d filched from one of their captors and opened the door. “We’ll probably run into him on the way out.”
“NAMI-SWA~AN! ALL THE MARINES IN THE WORLD CAN’T KEEP ME FROM YOU!!”
Zoro rolled his eyes as he returned his swords to their rightful place. “Are you sure we can’t leave him?”
"I'd say yes, but you'll need him to guide you back when you manage to get yourself lost."
