Title: You Only Like Me For My Tracksuit

Paulie hated hot weather. The summer could go and hang and he couldn’t be happier, because this? Was ridiculous. Not to mention offensive. There were half-naked women everywhere, which was totally uncalled for, had they no shame? Some of them were walking around in swimwear, and as far as Paulie was concerned, if there was no water around that was basically the same thing as walking around in ones underwear, which was just wrong. And it was even worse now, because he was at work, and most of his coworkers seemed to have decided that shirts were highly overrated, and that was just—Paulie didn’t have any problem with that ordinarily but it was just getting out of hand, and it wasn’t fair and he hadn’t seen anyone wearing enough clothing all day and this just wasn’t right because damn it, he was trying to work, and ARGH.

And then he spotted Kaku. Good, dependable Kaku, who was wearing a tracksuit. It was noon, the sun was beating down, the temperature had risen to a ludicrous level, and Kaku was still fully clothed. Paulie wanted to hug him. 

“You,” said Paulie, snatching Kaku by the shoulders and fixing him with a look both relieved and weary. “You’re my favorite person ever.” He let his head fall forward onto Kaku’s shoulder.

“And why, may I ask, is that?” Kaku said, not quite sure what to make of the situation. 

“Because you’re wearing clothes,” was the muffled, plaintive reply.

“Ah,” said Kaku, and hesitated as he patted Paulie’s back reassuringly. “You do realize, of course, that this makes our relationship diametrically opposed to nearly every other—” 

“Shut up,” Paulie grumbled.

“Okay,” Kaku said mildly, and shrugged his unoccupied shoulder at a perplexed Iceburg, dutifully keeping the amusement out of his voice.

LOL! Great take on the 'clothing' subject. I'd never thought how Kaku's clothing choice ('skin? What skin?') and Paulie's objection to shameful dress could click like that OMG their luv is so canon!

I wonder about Kaku sometimes. Pretty much all that's visible of him is his hands and about four inches of his face. And Paulie! Wearing a jacket when everyone else is basically shirtless. Except for Kaku. XD

You know, I can actually see this happening. Probably not the first summer Kaku's working there (Paulie probably has some sense, hopefully, maybe, and wouldn't want to scare off the new guy too much) but I can actually close my eyes and watch this happen and YOU WIN SO MUCH.
