Topic: Off Topic ~ Unless you see it as dynamic nakama-ness.
A/N: Yup, you guessed it - I just re-watched Film 6.
Pinned down and unable to move, all he can see is his swordsmans face, fixed in a roar of anger as he disappears into the vast expanse surrounding him. He screams but there isn't any sound. Despite his struggling he can't get to them, to rescue his nakama.
You are alone
He sucks in a great breath, to proclaim his outrage, his disbelief-
-but then it all melts away and he's back on the Thousand Sunny, safe in the warm darkness of the cabin, surrounded by the various sounds of his nakama around him.
He rises and gently pads around, first approaching Zoro, who is breathing slow and steady, resting on the sofa. He crouches and peers at the first mate through the darkness, lifting a hand to touch his jaw, his hair...to trace the beginnings of the scar that marks him under the now worn shirt.
The cook and doctor are curled around each other, despite there being enough beds for each of them now they still share occasionally.
Content that his friend is safe he continues, going to each of them in turn, to lay a hand on them as though to prove they are still here with him, that they haven't been taken from him.
His navigator and Archaeologist are in the adjoining cabin, but he needs to see them. Despite being unfamiliar with the new ship he finds himself in their cabin. He smiles, content and settles himself against their beds, head resting on his forearms as he watches over them.
The carpenter comes down from his watch, to wake the older woman to take her turn but Luffy stops him and grins, making his way up to the new crows nest instead.
His new ship is not better than the Merry, but no less nakama.
