Hmm, wonder what's back here..?
Jul. 31st, 2007 07:57 pmTitle: Vantage
Topic: Thousand Sunny
Word Count: 250 + 50
Rating: PG, PG13
Pairing: sekrit! (No, really, it's Zoro and then Sanji, and it's implied pairings and it's probably Zo/San, but it could be them with other folks if you prefer to read it that way, 'cause y'know, my mind is a strange and interesting place today, but! The archivist can say whatever she likes in here. *grin*)
Disclaimer: Characters and setting? Not mine. Probably just as well. Here, have them back...
Summary: Zoro meditates. Sanji postures.
Excuse: It has been an interesting week, and I have RL things that are due, so of course I'm here instead, right? And this coming weekend will be even MORE exciting and eventful and overly busy... *joy*

I don't get lost quite as easily as the others think. Nami hasn't been as helpful as she thinks, with those "map lessons", either. I actually did alright when straight ahead went across the sand table away from me, not that it's worth trying to tell her that.
For all that, once I know a place, I know it. And seeing as we've gotten ourselves a pretty new ship, bigger and more complicated than Merry was, and we'll probably be here for a while, it was worth getting to know the place.
It's a good place.
An interesting place.
A place with good, interesting secrets.
Like that rear balcony, for instance. I found that rather by accident, looking for another way up to the fancy new bathroom.
Having a bathroom that far above the waterline? Doesn't make sense at all, and if the plumbing breaks down you'll find me on the figurehead beside Luffy. But that's where thecyborg shipwright put it, and I can't exactly argue with what he did choose to put down in the hull.
It's the hallway between that and the aquarium that I really like, though. Very zen, peaceful and quiet. The fish tank is as soothing from the hallway side as the other, but there aren't all the people out here, and I've never minded using the floor, so the lack of seating doesn't bother me.
The view is fine, too.
He never notices when I'm watching him instead of the fish, after all.

Bastard. Staring at my ass again, I'll bet, aren't you? Like that, do you, shithead? Maybe I oughta really give you something to look at...
Shit. You're an idiot, eggplant; you know damned well it ain't true, and he's probably just lost, again. Quit posing and get back to work.

Date: 2007-08-01 04:40 pm (UTC)And in the layouts it says everyone has books there (except for Luffy). I object to Luffy not having books. I bet he'd be interested in cookbooks with nice big pictures in it or something. And I wonder what books Zoro would keep? The Art of War? 101 of Slicing an Enemy? The Little Marimo?
There seems to be a story here... *laughs*

Date: 2007-08-02 01:45 am (UTC)I 'spect that if Luffy wanted books of his own, he'd certainly have them, no? Maybe "How to Draw Fish" and "The Little GumGum that Could". :) Zoro, on t'other paw, most likely does in fact have a copy of the Art of War, and several other similar classic books on tactics and strategy, as well as a book or three of meditative poems and something quite surprisingly frilly (just because there MUST be something he can be twitted on besides his crummy sense of direction!). And I'll bet he also has the first collector's edition (with the special full-colour illustrations) of The Little Marimo, too. :)
So. Definitely a story here, yes. That, and in how long it's gonna take Sanji to figure out the ruse. :)

Date: 2007-08-01 04:19 am (UTC)Also like the implication (reminder?) that Zoro's not just a lughead with swords even if he is underestimated in certain situations.

Date: 2007-08-01 04:08 pm (UTC)And, yeah (and you're welcome). One can't be stupid and a master of tactics, and we have plenty of direct evidence for Zoro being the latter. It just doesn't get shown off all that often (usually all you get is that single glint of his eyes as he sums someone up), so it's easy to underestimate him, especially given the number of actual lugheads with swords we see in series!
