Title: Too Much
Rating: PG-15 to R depending on how you want to see it.
Word Count: 282
Pairing: Sanji-->Everyone
Topic: Masks
Summary: Sanji has a secret.
A/N: Not my usual happy work but Sanji's flustered enough to merit a chuckle or two. I hope it's clear enough. @_@
Sanji put it on; his saving grace. The idea of liking men on the Baratie was a dangerous one especially if you were the youngest in the kitchen. Of course, he was stronger than all of them now, but the habit had stayed if only where nightmares still lingered. Large limbs closing over his once small frame, his face pressed against cold wood while hot flesh pushed onto his back. There was something in that burning, physical pain and horribly overwhelming shame that kept the mask glued to his face.
Maybe he was over compensating, but he really did like women.
He just had a tendency to like men too, even if he hated the bastards just as much.
There were those times when he could fool himself into playing gentleman but even those were few and far between. Far too many were the times when he’d stepped on deck only to catch sight of Zoro swinging those ridiculous weights around, shirtless.
Far too often did Luffy and Usopp run around half-naked and grinning and grabbing him with sweaty, rough palms and urging with rude, boyish laughter to come join in on their little games (that involved too much damn touching, thank you very much.)
It was too much. The allure of muscled arms and the subsequent, painful memory of what they could do tore him to shreds. It made him sweat bullets just thinking about it. Sometimes it was easier to retain the façade than to think about a yearning he was too scared to welcome.
It didn’t mean that he couldn’t watch and enjoy himself, of course, but he had to be careful the mask didn’t slip.
Just in case.
