Jun. 30th, 2004 05:23 pmA couple of entries for the topic. They were written when I was exhausted, running on no sleep in over 24 hours, but I got hit with the writing bug. I therefore apologize for any retardation, and claim no responsiblity for how stupid they make you if you read them. :p

Title: Independant Axis
Pairing: Zoro/Rufi, Zoro/Sanji
Word Count: 103
Rating: PG
It was easy to see how they all fit together sometimes - Rufi, crying in his sleep, waking up only to crawl into Zoro's hammock with him (the same way he used to crawl into his brother's after a nightmare about that goddamned sea monster and Shanks' arm; Sanji and Zoro, curiously absent in the darker hours when others were otherwise occupied- presumably sleeping, passed out, etc.
It was easy to see how the triangle worked independently of it's other axises.
It was easy to just sit back and observe as an objective outsider, even if it was with a tinge of jealousy.

Title: Captain's Brother
Pairing: Zoro/Rufi
Word Count 213
Rating: PG
Warnings: Ace Angst
Ace listened to them. It wasn't that he was eavesdropping, it was that Rufi was so very audible when he was upset. Zoro's voice came though as the now-familiar vibration tone, too low to discern actual words.
He was torn- upset brother was his job, his responsibility, wasn't it? Instinct was pressing at him -
On your feet, Comfort brother.
But he'd given up that responsibility and the luxury as well. Couldn't afford to make things any harder for Rufi now. He'd have to leave soon, anyway. Couldn't risk stirring up those old abandonment wounds he'd already seen clear as day on his brother's face more than once since he'd been here.
Rufi had a crew now. Nakama. Others to care for him. As an outsider, he just wasn't needed anymore. It wasn't his place.
Captain's brother, Zoro referred to him as. Captain's brother replaced by captain's lover; replaced by Captain's Nakama.
He just wasn't needed anymore.
Ace settled his head down into the cradle of his arms, hat tipped down to cover his face. With any luck he'd just fall asleep-- It had certainly been a long enough day. If not, he could always just hope that anyone who bothered into the galley this long past mealtime would simply assume him asleep.

Title: Bringer of News
Pairing: Shanks/Ben (Shanks/Mihawk, Shanks/Mihawk/Ben possible implications)
Word Count:195
Rating: PG
Shanks had been badly hung over when he had arrived but was now well on his way to total intoxication. And why shouldn't he be? He had every excuse under the sun, didn't he?
He was comfortably anchored on a well-stocked island, well off the beaten path. Providing that term even applied on the open ocean.
That rubber kid he'd been so keen on informing everyone after his prolonged anchoring at the kid's local port was well on his way now, with a rather pricey introductory bounty.
His own arrival had been the announced reason for the newly broken out round of drunken revelry, but as Mihawk leaned against a barrel, broad hat providing a perfect shelter from the sun without the trees so many of the others were currently spread out beneath, he quirked a small upturn of stoic lips in quiet observation as Shanks flopped into his first mate's lap, pulling the man's face down for a kiss.
What, pray-tell was the real reason for the staged celebration, Mihawk could only guess. Though he seemed to have a pretty decent idea as he downed the last of his mug with a smug look.
