He was staring at it like it was something out of a horror novel brought to life; like some creature of hideous and unnatural descent made itself known to the outside world.
It blinked at him, stumbling around and tripping over curiously protective fingers before it was gently scooped up and deposited back in it’s new ‘bed’ by it’s new ‘father’.
He had tried reasoning with the other man, had attempted to explain to inconvenience of having such a ‘thing’ on the ship, but he was adamant.
It crawled out of the haramaki again, despite the owner’s protests. He had to smile really, he’d never have thought that he’d have such a soft spot for small animals, but Chopper was evidence enough so perhaps his disbelief was unfounded.
A tiny tug on his tie brought his attention to their guest and made him sigh as he looked at the small blue eyes gazing up at him. He scratched it behind the ears and looked at the swordsman who was struggling not to look hopeful.
Small Thing purred at him. Zoro watched him with the increasingly annoying ‘hopeful’ look.
It was too late to say it really. With every moment of eye contact or moment in the presence of either party was making it harder to just say no.
He scratched it under the chin and frowned to cover up the smile that was tugging at his mouth or his heart, he really couldn’t tell now anyway.
Bloody thing was too small to eat anyway.
