It wasn’t because he was a cook. Or because he liked to cook. It was because he knew he’d be left alone.
That’s why he stormed off to the galley after an argument. Not an argument, a typhoon.
“Dammit cook!” came the harsh reply once the door slammed. Lighting the cigarette he was holding in his shaking fingers, Sanji ignored him. Or tried to at any rate; wasn’t the bastard going to leave him be? This was his space and he fucking deserved to be left in it. It was a good place to vent his anger at the man, to rest, to hide out from the world while his nerves and his temper returned to something along the lines of normal. So when he heard the growl of annoyance that usually followed, he knew that Zoro had gone and wasn’t going to bother him any more.
At least that’s what he had hoped.
The door flung open revealing Zoro’s foot, sill raised from having kicked it. Sanji leapt up, pissed at the invasion. “Get the hell out!”
“No.” He was shocked at the quiet response when Zoro silently came into the room, closing the door behind him.
“Why the hell not?” he growled back. “I leave you alone when you want to be!” he was about ready to kick the jerk out, but stopped when he saw that Zoro’s swords were no where in sight. Still fuming, he snapped, “Then leave dammit!”
“No.” Zoro closed the distance between them, slowly wrapping hi arms around the stunned blonde. As he rested his head on the other’s shoulder he whispered, “Because the storm’s passed and every shelter needs something warm."
