Topic? What topic was that?
May. 19th, 2008 03:40 pmTitle: Afterthoughts
Topic:raison d'ĂȘtre =FAIL
Word Count: 250
Rating: PG15
Pairing: Zoro/Sanji
Disclaimer: Characters and setting? So not mine, and just as well, truly.
Summary: Actions speak loudly indeed, but the eyes are the windows of the soul.
Excuse: My WIP folder is full -- yea, even unto overflowing. Rejoice! You get spammed with OT drivel. (Alternately, the time to duck and cover? Is now.)
Notes: Follows "Wordless", which is the flipside/followup to "Unspoken".

Well, it wasn't as if "I want you" wasn't already a pretty big thing. That Sanji had such an effect on the man, that was something right there. That he'd show it, show just how much of an effect it was, that was probably even bigger.
More still, that Zoro was willing to do for Sanji, instead of just trying to do him...
If he were the sort, if he wanted to, Sanji could infer something from that, about how the swordsman felt about...
Well, no, there was no inferring any emotional content, really. Not from just the actions, anyway.
No, Sanji was going to have to read that from the little pieces of the swordsman's expression that he'd managed to catch fleeting, transient glimpses of.
Glimpses that had looked like something more. That smile (well, as much as you could call that glass-green sparkle in those usually storm-grey eyes a "smile") as Zoro'd looked up, waiting for Sanji's head to come back down, when...
Shit, Sanji'd called the bastard by name. Hadn't meant to do that, hadn't meant to give that much of his own feelings away. But done was done, and the swordsman had been happy to hear it. Not calculatingly so, but honestly delighted, happy. As if he'd been given something he really wanted, not just something to hold over the cook.
So maybe it was only "I want you" after all, but maybe, just maybe, it was something more.
Somehow, Sanji rather hoped it was more.
