 My contributation to the short forms theme.
Title: Why did she doubt
Pairing: none
character: Chopper and Doctorine. Not that chopper says anythign.
 299 words.
AN: this weeks topic is mentioned in passing, I think.
 Doctorine is having second thoughts. 

She couldn’t help but wonder if she was doing the right thing, Letting him go.    It was true that she had been looking for someone who could heal him, who could teach the little reindeer what she could not. Who could teach him that weird was ok, teach him how to stand up for his friends and himself, and especially teach the serious little thing to take a joke, to laugh, and to play.

 

 These people were perfect for that, they laughed easily, accepted every strange thing they saw in a remarkably short time, fought to the death for their ideals, and best of all, every single member of the Straw hat crew was infected with the joy of living.

 

So why did she have doubts? Chopper could look after himself, He’d proven that. They would protect him when he couldn’t. They’d proven that. Her reindeer would fit their circle perfectly; in fact he was already part of their family.

 

The reason it bothered her, she realized, was the fact that Chopper was tiny. She knew he could become large at will but in his usual form……

The usually detached woman found her self having to banish images of Chopper being crushed by an overzealous captain who didn’t see him on deck Or images of him falling into the water and the crew not seeing their tiny doctor, And images of the Reindeer being buried under things he’d knocked over in a panic, That last one had happened at her castle more then once.

 

Doctorine sighed to herself as she waved goodbye to the Straw hats as the sailed away with the little reindeer she had come to love. She had only lived for 140 short years, but for the first time in her life she felt very old
