When Nami ran into the smoke filled kitchen screaming Zoro grabbed her and quickly evacuated the premises himself.
It was three hours later when the horrible burnt smell had been scrubbed and eradicated from the galley, but the cook now carried around a mixed cologne of charred bleach brush and disinfectant. And that lemony fresh kitchen cleaner.
Zoro refrained on making the 'ick' noises that Luffy and Usopp had been making and punished for. Chopper had yet to enter the room and the girls had opted to have supper in their rooms. Brooke, sans nose, knew not of what horror was wafting over the table. Franky, Zoro noted with some measure of jealousy, had switched his nose off somehow.
The cook had the decency to keep the windows open, and sat at the far end of the table. Zoro longed to gag and grab his plate to leave for the safety of the crows nest. He'd refrain from calling the blond 'Shitty-cook' for a good week or two, just to be on the safe side - not because the guy looked so...dejected...or anything, he was just feeling charitable. Real charitable.
"Was something wrong with the oven Cook-bro?" Franky asked, ignoring Zoro's hopefully not too obvious look of 'don't go there!'
"Old man wrote out the recipe wrong, he forgets that I work in celcius and he works in farenheit."
"So what got carboni-"
Zoro kicked Franky hard under the table, giving him the look again. Sanji found a knot on the table suddenly fascinating.
"Yohohohooo! Those delicacies are as dead as I was! Yohohoo!"
Brooke suddenly found himself plugging an open window.
The two men in the room stilled before the third, and then hastily finished their supper and spluttered out thanks before fleeing the room.
Sanij found himself doing the dishes solo that night.
Even Zoro wasn't that charitable.

Hahaha! Oh no!
Date: 2008-07-19 02:04 pm (UTC)I bet Zeff set him up on purpose, sneaking a boby trapped recipe in Sanjis stash so the cook didn't get too full of himself or cocky.
Really nice work here.
