When he was still a child, he got lost in the woods for weeks. With all of the creatures in the woods, deep in the darkness, he could feel that his senses for danger and things unseen by the naked eye was sharpened. At the same time, though he tried not to be scared, the feeling strengthened. He couldn’t decide which way to go home to his village. All of the trees looked the same to him, especially at night. What if no one ever found him? Would he die here? Would he ever have the chance to defeat Kuina?
Though he survived that time, his dream was still lost to him when Kuina died. She left him with his promise to become the world’s greatest swordsman.
But he will always be a lost boy.
He didn’t know where to start. He just wandered around, and thing happened to him on their own. He never really noticed that people began to call him Pirate Hunter, Roronoa Zoro. After meeting Johnny and Yosaku, his life had more direction, though it never really changed anything. He would still get lost most of the time.
Then he met Monkey D. Luffy. He had never dreamed that someone one day would stretch out his body, miraculously made of rubber, and protect him from marine bullets. He never thought that he’d have someone to care for him, since he lived most of his life alone.
Because he will always be a lost boy.
That all changed when he met this rubber boy. Somehow, with his other sense, he could feel that this man would shine a new light to guide him along his journey, and to achieve his dream. It was something he could hold on to.
That’s why he stretched his body to its limit as he fought with the best swordsman in the world, though he could sense that he would lose this fight. He made another promise, deep in his heart, to never lose again. Promises to keep; guidelines for living his life.
That’s why he also stretched his body when he fought one of the shichibukai. Because he knew for sure that when Monkey D. Luffy stretched his rubber body, that man was helping guide him through life. Thus, he believed that his captain would also be able to create guidelines for a new era, should that man get the chance to become the Pirate King.
That’s why he copies his captain, as the rubber man protects his crew. All he can do is stretch his arms and protect his nakama.
Because Monkey D. Luffy is his guiding light on this journey called life...

God, I know exactly how you feel about not wanting to bother your beta. I feel like that too, well, in my case, I didn't want to bother anyone with an incomplete idea... and OOC Sanji and... and... OC THAT I SWEAR TO GOD I DID NOT MAKE MARY-SUE and... ok I'll stop this.
Anyway, what I wanted to write was, I loved the last line. Hooray!

Date: 2008-07-23 03:29 pm (UTC)Yeah, I was referring to an AU one shot thing that I posted a couple of days ago. It had insane!Sanji, and an unnamed woman who I had originally planned to make Robin, but ended up making her more of an OC. It is terrible. I'm actually happy with my concept, and the plot makes Sanji impossible not to be OOC, but the writing, oh the writing... I'll probably re-write it soonish.
Oh, and I jump up with joy, every time I see something written by you on my friends page, so I should be the one to thank you!

Date: 2008-07-23 04:08 pm (UTC)By an amazing coincidence, that was one of the few older fics that I've read!!! Doh!! Yeah, her OCs are amazing, especially the doctor girl from the new crew. That fic is so sad...so very sad but satisfying and beautiful... and the ending is so sweet!!XD
