"Nyaaaaa~aaa..."
Usopp blinked blearily awake, nudged into consciousness by the soft whine and the faint rocking of his hammock.
"Usooo~ppu..."
The sharpshooter's eyes finally focused on Luffy's face, a foot or so from his own, fingers and teeth clamped down on the edge of the hammock.
"Luffy?" Usopp mumbled sleepily. "What's going on?"
"Hara-heeeeeetaaa..." Even with his mouth full of rope, Luffy managed to sound like he was dying. Two nights in a row now, Sanji had caught him sneaking in to the galley and it seemed after being kicked into the wall twice he'd figured out it was too dangerous.
Usopp sighed. "I'm sure Sanji'll make a big breakfast in the morning," he reassured the other boy. "Just try to sleep until then."
"Can't sleep. Too hungry," Luffy moaned miserably, his eyes pouting over the edge of the hammock. "Can I sleep with you?"
"What?" Usopp blinked again, starting to come more to his senses. He wasn't sure exactly what sleeping with him would achieve... But he figured it couldn't do any harm. And besides, it was a cold night. "Okay, sure."
Luffy released the hammock, a wide grin plastering his face. "Yatta!" Before Usopp could protest, Luffy was jumping into the air to land recklessly in the hammock, sending it wildly rocking.
Usopp yelped, flailing for any purchase to steady the swaying hammock even as Luffy giggled madly, scrambling under the blanket. A pillow hit Usopp on the side of the head with considerable force, followed by Sanji's annoyed tone. "Urusai!" The chef had been grouchy from lost sleep.
Finally the hammock settled again and Luffy's arms wound tightly around Usopp's waist, using the other boy's chest as a pillow with a satisfied sigh. Usopp groaned faintly... but he supposed it was worth the trouble.
