Rating: G
Word Count: 300
Pairing: Zoro/Sanji ~ We All know Sanji wouldn't kick him too hard for reading his journal...right?
Topic: Journal
Author's Note: Written at 6:00am in the morning, before work, because this has been milling about in my head for years then the perfect topic sprouts up! Huzzah!
Additional note:
This topic wouldn't happen to have been inspired by a doujinshi? I remember reading one where the guys wrote to each other in a journal because they couldn't talk to each other XD Anyhows, here's the drabble! Enjoy.
When he found it concealed under a cushion in the aquarium he was confused. Why should something so important to the cook be in any other room than the galley?
The book was huge, he needed two hands to lift it from it's hiding place to get a better look at it. It looked hand-made, but he doubted the man had crafted it himself.
A smooth and rich leather covered it, as did a waterproof wrap. As he took these off, despite the internal warnings screaming at him 'drop the book and run man!', he admired the thick cream coloured pages, the fine penmanship and the occassional illustration.
Illustration? That was one of Usopps. What was it doing in the cooks journal? He turned a few more pages and found several of Nami's discarded map drafts. The presence of the maps didn't surprise him, the cook trailed after the navigator like toilet paper stuck to a shoe, but the illustrations were somewhat strange.
He turned back to the first he had seen, the fish...what was it? Elephant Bluefin tuna, southblue. Next a squid, following that a detailed image of that balloon octopus from Luffy's pants.
Was Sanji keeping a ship's log? He thought Nami was doing that. A map fell out, crude and marked with several crosses. Treasure Map? No.
All Blue is not to be found in places marked 'X'.
Oh. Not a ship's log, Zoro realised, a dream journal.
He gently tucked the map back in, only for an envelope to drop out. It contained a sheet of paper and an illustration of the ring he had given to the cook on his birthday.
Important.
Putting everything to rights he slid it back into hiding and watched the fish stare at him through the Aquariums glass.
Perhaps here was more appropriate than the galley afterall, Zoro smiled.

Date: 2008-09-29 05:57 am (UTC)For some reason the angsty-side of my mind keeps bringing up the idea that Sanji doesn't remember things well and has to write it/make note of it in the journal...especially like with the illustration of the ring. ^^; Just my mind taking its stroll off-road.
