Hi, I'm new...
Sep. 30th, 2008 12:28 amTitle: Luffy's Journal
Rating: G
Word Count: 300
Pairing: Nakamaship
Topic: Journal
A/N: Sooo this is my first shot at writing fanfic... lets hope it goes well.
Many people think Luffy can’t read, let alone keep something like a journal. Well, they are wrong on both counts. He didn’t write it down, but it should definitely still count. Sure, usually things need to be written down to count as a journal; this is true for most, but Luffy really shouldn’t be grouped with everyone else.
All of his nakama had journals where they recorded what was important to them: Nami was always updating her map portfolio and the ship’s log, in addition to a personal diary; Robin had research journals; for Chopper it was medical notes; Franky and Usopp had filled many notebooks with sketches and ideas; Sanji always wrote out new recipes after he tried them; Brook kept a little book full of music Luffy couldn’t read in his skull; even Zoro had a journal somewhere, though Luffy rarely saw it and had no idea what was in it. Well, Luffy had a journal too - it was just in his head.
In Luffy’s journal, he remembered all of the important things about his nakama. He knew where Zoro’s favorite nap spots were, the name of the song Brook hummed at dusk, what Sanji had made him for a special snack, how much Usopp exaggerated his stories, when Franky would talk to Thousand Sunny, what herb Chopper smelled like, what made Robin truly laugh, and when Nami would go nap under her trees. These where things he thought were worth putting in a journal, but Luffy didn’t need to. If he kept them in a book it would be alright, but a little weird and unnecessary. These were things about his nakama, so he kept them in his head, so they could be closer to his heart than if they were written down in some book.

Date: 2008-10-01 01:50 am (UTC)The "zzz" in my icon is most definitely not boredom, btw, but rather the extreme level of comfiness this fic gave me.

alkvakjdhsfhlaksd you've killed me with that line. This story is like a really awesome hug.
(Sorry for gushing, but after the most recent chapters, nakama-fic makes me all flail-y.)
