Oct. 1st, 2008 07:39 pmTitle: Educating Luffy
Topic: Journal
Word Count: 299
Rating: PG-13
Pairing: Usopp/Luffy
Disclaimer/Warnings: Crack again, and very quickly written.
Summary: Reading expands the mind. And other things.
It was remarkably easy to spot when Luffy was trying to steal something, as he never seemed to realise that just because most of his body was out of sight, didn't mean his arm was.
The arm which, in fact, was currently stretching (quite literally) towards the thick book lying innocently besides Usopp.
Barely looking up from his experiments, Usopp lifted the book, almost slammed it on Luffy's hand, reconsidered, and put it on his other side.
Luffy's face appeared from around the corner, pouting. "Can't I read it now?"
"No-one can ever read it," Usopp informed him importantly, adding some extra gunpowder to the mixture. "Except me," he corrected quickly, just in case. It wouldn't do to have Luffy try to keep it from him in the name of his own privacy.
Slipping further into the room, Luffy pulled his hand back and shifted his hat, grinning. "Is it a journal?"
Usopp hesitated, then straightened proudly. "Of course! It's the exploits of the great Captain Usopp, recorded for posterity! Years - no, centuries from now, people will marvel over my adventures, as they do even today!"
Luffy picked his nose absently, still grinning. "Oh. 'Cos Zoro said he'd checked, and it was just the Kama Sutra with a plain cover."
"... Did he, now?"
"Uh huh!" nodded the Captain, one hand 'sneakily' stretching for the book once more. "Hey, what's the Kama Sutra, anyway?"
'Let's show him,' Sogeking offered generously, and Usopp agreed. It was a great warrior of the sea's duty to educate his less intelligent brethren, after all.
Luffy's education lasted several hours, and the Captain agreed, afterwards, that Captain Usopp's exploits were quite book-worthy. Even if he couldn't accomplish number 72.
