Notes: Not for the contest, unless you can make the stretch from 'travel' to 'tourism'... I dunno. ^^;; I stumbled across this quote while surfing PotC fanfic of all things and I thought, woah! I have to write something with Usopp! So here it is. The quote is from Mark Twain, btw.


All above him was sky. The deck was warm under his back, the wood smooth, polished by the comings and goings of now-departed feet.

Luffy’s flag still flapped stubbornly in the breeze, snapping in and out of the corner of his vision. He closed his eyes.

Someone had once asked him why he always made up such ridiculous stories.

“A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes,” he’d replied.

And it had. He’d come farther than even he’d ever thought possible. Halfway around the world.

And now, truth had finally caught up.

You know, I was just scrolling down to comment, and I was going to mention Discworld too... but I see someone else noticed it too. ^_^ Gotta love Terry Pratchett.

It's about the current manga arc. Major major spoilers - it's a complicated arc, but the pertinent details thus far are that the worst part is that being an ongoing arc, no one but Oda-sensei himself knows how it's going to end...and right now it's just heartbreaking. Luffy hasn't smiled in chapters...
