Fanfic: OPY100 [SmoAce]

Okay, was in a writing spritz tonight and this is my entry.

Title: Simplicity
Rating: PG-13 (One word)
Word Count: 300
Pairing: SmokerxAce
Topic: Kindness
Warning: Maybe some spoilers (and future foreshadowing)

I seriously think this is becoming a mini-series of mine.

 

He stared out to sea slumped in one of the chairs that Smoker had stationed on his ship’s deck.  Bandaged arms hung over the armrests and legs stretched out in front of him. He had tried turning the chair in a direction that didn’t have the sun shining directly into his face.

As much as he would have enjoyed it wasn’t the same without his trusted hat blocking the sun out of his eyes.  Sighing he raised a hand running his fingers through his hair.

He knew that when he lost it in the fight with Blackbeard getting it back at that time would be slim. One thing led to another, then came Impel Down and the execution order that brought, well, what was the defining day for someone. An act of kindness.

The sounds of footsteps approaching caught his attention, before a shadow cast itself over Ace.

“Ah...stay there Commodore. You’ll keep the sun of out my face.” The smell of cigars penetrated his nose bringing familiarity with it. Ruffling was heard before something covered his head and eyes.

“Eh?” Ace reached up, fingers brushing the smooth material. Pulling whatever it was off his head in front of him he stared into the faces of comedy and tragedy. His faces....his hat!! Turning his head up he looked at Smoker who looked down at him.

“What? Where?”

“Where you left it. One of my crew found it and fixed it up. Your attitude is affecting my men.” Smoker explained. A look passed Ace’s eyes. Smoker grunted annoyed.

“It was an act of kindness. Nothing else. Now stop whining.” Smoker said before walking away to continue giving orders.  Ace stared at the hat before putting it on contently.

‘He likes me.’ He thought as a shitfaced grin stretched across his face.
