Now I want soup...
Sep. 14th, 2004 07:19 pmI had to fight myself not to read
xparrot’s post before I finished this, because I know how distracted I get… *laughs* None the less, I bring you:
Title: Chicken Soup for a Pirate’s Soul
Rating: G
Pairing: Faintly UssopxSanji o_O
Word count: 299 (Gently pruned)
He didn't remember making it back to his hammock. Feeling completely wiped out, Sanji only distantly wondered if he had staggered there on his own after dinner.
Dinner. What a travesty.
He groaned wholeheartedly, wondering if he could live that down. The food was only half cooked by the time it started getting bad, nearly done when he finally had to run to the sink. At least he made it in time; the last thing he would want Nami-san to see was...
He shuddered at the thought.
This wouldn't do. How could he impress his swan when he couldn't even prepare a proper meal for her? No illness would excuse him, nevermind his rising temperature.
Weak limbs tried to pull him upright, intent on making penance for his perceived transgressions - but the world shifted sharply, and he flopped down again with a groan.
"S-sanji?"
He hadn't heard Ussop approach, and that concerned him. How sick was he? Nami or the damn swordsman were agile enough to glide in unnoticed- Ussop, however, had none of this grace.
“You looked… I brought you something to eat?”, Ussop started tentatively, before puffing his chest proudly. “You see, I was once trained by the greatest chef in—“
“Just hand it over”, Sanji interrupted wearily, now concerned over the state of his kitchen.
Startled silent, the boy handed over the steaming bowl. It didn’t smell bad, likely to be edible at least. No spoon, but it was only broth, so the blonde hesitantly brought the liquid to his lips.
Certainly not gourmet, but it still had a pleasant flavor. Surprised, he took another sip, letting the warmth soothe his throat. He smiled briefly, appreciating the consideration.
Then…
“Do I want to see my kitchen?”
“Uh… I’ll just go check the masts now…”

Date: 2004-09-15 04:59 am (UTC)...now see what you made me do. You made me call Sanji by an horribly inappropriate and silly nickname.
They're so very cute.

Date: 2004-09-16 12:12 am (UTC)(one note - Usopp doesn't call Sanji by any honorifics, just "Sanji". Except occasionally when Usopp's begging for help and then it's "Sanji-kun," which I suspect he picked up from Nami...)
& liked the punchline - poor Sanji-kun ^__^
