A/N: I wrote this to try to jump-start me out of my unproductiveness but I'm not entirely sure it makes sense.
The sous-chef of the Baratie had seen a lot of things, good and bad, in his eventful years at sea. Even he, though, was taken by surprise at the voracious hunger of the fiend before him. He stood at the kitchen door, for a moment frozen in shock, and in that time it devoured the meal he’d prepared for five people, adding to the swiftly increasing amount of empty plates on the table. Disregarding the subtle marinades and careful presentation, it stuffed its gaping maw; crumbs tumbling wildly in escape from the grinding jaws. In the background, the cooks seemed captivated by the gluttonous display, ladles and pins half raised in stunned defence of their simmering pans.
The monster turned to face him and as if a spell had been broken sense returned to Sanji. The brute conspicuously swallowed and with belly bulging, eyes sparkling with a curious intensity, it licked the last of the juices around its mouth before grinning wider than anyone he'd ever met.
In some ways it was a decisive moment when the monster spoke to him.
“It’s good!”
Sanji kicked the shitty rubber boy through the wall.
