How long is forever?

Eternity; infinity; time without end; evermore. But how long is that? How long can you stay with someone? Certainly not forever. Everyone dies, someday. And no one lives forever.

But time is relative.

"You’ll stay with me forever, right, Zoro?"

"Forever’s a long time, Luffy. For all time."

"But that’s the point! Promise me! —No, wait!"

"Eh?"

"Make a vow! Make a vow that you’ll stay with me forever and ever and ever and even if we die."

"Hey, I don't make vows for just anything, you know!"

"But this is for me! For staying with me forever and ever and ever and even if we die!"

No one lives forever. But some things do last that long, even if they eventually become only an echo in the wind.

"Okay, okay, stop clinging— I vow to stay with you forever."

"And ever and ever and even if we die!"

"...And ever, and ever, and even if we die."

"Eee, thank you! And I vow to stay with you forever and ever and ever and even if we die!"

No one lives forever.

"...Hey, Luffy? About... forever."

"Eh?"

But time is relative, after all.

"You think it’ll be long enough?"
