A Brace of Dawn
Oct. 19th, 2004 12:36 pmTitle: A Brace of Dawn
Rating: G
Pairing: Ussop, Kuro (no pairing)
Wordcount: 100
Notes: The action of time on messengers and their messages.
He stares into the darkness until the light breaks. This is an important part. Eventually, though his sight is great, he sees again the water empty of everything but color. So, not this morning, but they'll come. Usopp turns back to the village, drawing a lungful of the sea air.
The sun heats his blood, shines red through his eyelids. How he has been waiting patiently all this time, years, and now the seconds rub like sand. The appointed hour is gone. His hour, and they have not come. Kuro adjusts his glasses and stands, hissing to the empty air.
